Not enough research to conclude that it is neurological for all stutterers, but many do believe it is psychological. I speak fluently to myself, however when I'm aware that someone else is listening I begin to stutter. Could be a psychological reaction that triggers a neurological response? Perhaps beating the psychological demon would stop triggering the neurons damaging your speech.
