Book recs for us? Hi, I’d like to add some books to our home library that have characters who happen to be PWS. My son is in elementary school but I’m open to getting books for him and his older siblings so he sees people who stutter in life and in literature. Do you have any favorite books? It doesn’t matter if stuttering is part of the plot or it’s just there. I’m thinking I’d like to start advocating now to get some books included in middle and high school curriculums. I think it’d be cool for a couple hundred kids to read a book where stuttering is present so when my son gets to those grades it’s a non-issue. Kind of like how autism has become a non-issue. Our district has main streamed many kids who were previously separated and they are much more visible and present. My kids are very nonchalant about issues other kids have. I’ve heard them say yeah, x has downs so it’s harder for him to learn or y has autism so it’s hard for her to read faces and understand feelings. Any recommendations appreciated as well as books to avoid.
