I can't speak to everything you're asking but I take Strattera, have ADD/ADHD (truly by the way), and stutter. I've never noticed a direct connection with my stuttering while on the medication. My stutter "does what it does" independent if I take my meds or not. As for doing them any good, I can't particularly blame anyone for trying. Stuttering makes you feel alone and isolated in ways that are hard to describe.
