Over the years I’ve been able to develop a, simply put- “I don’t give a fuck” attitude. You have a voice. You have something to offer the world. Be confident in those situations, be brave. It can be hard and takes practice. Sometimes it’s “fake it til you make it”, but it will get easier and by putting yourself in situations you will build confidence. When going into an interview, prepare! Be ready to answer the question- tell me a bit about yourself. Research the company, the job posting, competitors. Preparation always made me feel confident. Also, remember you are there to interview them too! I suggest going to every interview you get offered, even those you don’t want. Practice! Public speaking, prepare! Know your shit forwards and backwards. Try to avoid procrastinating, also a way that anxiety manifests. Remember that no one is thinking about you and your stutter as much as you think they are. Also, don’t assume that everyone is a dickhead. Many people recognize the bravery and strength of will that you are showing. Especially when they’re shitting their pants too. Practice, it gets easier. Aside from that, I have also found meditation to be very helpful. Download the headspace app, that’s what I’ve used for a long time. Hope this helps, and remember- don’t give a fuck, do you!
