The sub made me face the reality of how fortunate I was to have a support system growing up that was empathetic and understanding of my stutter. My grandfather stuttered and I have a cousin who stutters. It's an understood part of my family and there were people in my life to advise me and sympathize with me. To hear about people who were ignored or abused by family for their speech impediment breaks my heart, and I understand the negativity. I just wish I could lend out my generally positive outlook.
