Great! This is exactly the type of feedback I want to hear! I don't want to over emphasize anything, but I want to do the condition justice, and I want to do it respectfully. I want this to be a character that children can really get behind, even if stuttering/stammering is something they've never directly seen in person. There are few fictional characters presented with stuttering in fiction, and I see an opportunity to do something about that. And just so you know, Julio does indeed gain confidence (and purpose) as the story continues. His growth as a character is really defined when he saves the protagonist's life towards the end of the book. More importantly, in between the events of this book and the next, he joins up with a secret society dedicated to protecting Monty (who is the key to save the eventually world). So not only does he grow as an individual (granted, he's only about 10 years old), but he grows tremendously in ability. Thanks again. Expect to hear from me again soon.
