That's kind of a gray area. She's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. If she does, you could possibly see that as her interrupting or dismissing your chance to speak. If she doesn't (as in this case), you could see that as her not lending a hand when you need it. In my case, if I'm struggling in public, my friend would usually ask me if I want him to say it and usually I'd say yes. I think you should be open and honest about this problem with your SO before it festers and you build resentment. PS - her not helping you when you asked her to is a bad move. I understand not interrupting before you ask but once you've asked, it's just mean to not help. She shouldn't decide when and where you "practice" your speech.
