That’s interesting and definitely a good follow up point. My take on it is this - don’t reinvent yourself or further this technique into developing some sort of alter ego. Like I said, use it for things like ordering food at a drive through or one-off phone calls, nothing where you have to keep up the act consistently. You should be in tune with who you are, and that an accent is simply a tool that can be used in some cases and not in others. As soon as I’m done with the radios I’m right back to talking with my instructor using my regular voice, laughing about how ridiculous it is that I’m able to pull it off like that. Self awareness is big. That’s really why I emphasized if you’re a student, which I’m not, I’m in my 30s, but there’s probably a lot of high school and college students on here, don’t show up first day of class introducing yourself to everyone using an accent, because that may very well lead to something more like pretending to be somebody else!
