Find a good speech therapist. One that understands the whole disorder, not just what you sound like when you’re stuttering. You can do whatever you want and stutter, be who you want to be and stutter. One of my good friends stutters, just finished medical school and is now a resident. As to your neurogenic question, it’s possible. The underlying mechanisms of stuttering are as yet poorly understood. Either origin won’t change what a therapist does to help you. Last word of advice. Look and see if there is a national stuttering association local chapter near you. Self help is a great form of medicine. Www.westutter.org. Or if you’re international there are other groups like the British Stammering Association.
