My daughter stutters (as do I). One of the best things we ever did for her was to arrange for me to speak to her class each year of elementary school. I’d go in, talk about what stuttering is, talk about how to be a good friend, etc. Every kid left more knowledgeable and empowered. She had a lot fewer bullies. And she had more friends taking her side. Just naming the thing and putting it out there took the pressure off everyone.
