Best advice I can give is to keep in mind that you are leaving, and won't have to see him ever again. Don't fear embarrasing yourself, especially if you two have a decent relationship. People are far more sympathetic of stutterers than it may seem. No one wants you to be uncomfrotable when you speak to them. Most people will actually be patient. If he's not, just hand him the letter and walk away lol.
