Thanks for your response! What technique are you referring to? It seems that the site is actually in agreement with what you said. My understanding is that tense vocal folds (as well as other muscles involved in speech) is what often causes a stutterer to "block" or be unable to make that sound because they are unable to release air. Or at least this has been the case for me. I can't speak for ALL stutterers. I remember reading a book, can't think of its exact title, but it was about the Valsalva maneuver, which I feel this program alludes to. I am sure you've heard about it in one of your classes. At the time, I felt that awareness of my "Valsalva maneuver" really helped me. But yes I definitely agree that tensing up your vocal cords is not helpful at all. Muscle tension has been one of my major issues. I catch myself blocking on plosive sounds especially the p and t sounds and I have noticed that my vocal folds, and even my face muscles, lips and tongue, get extremely tense.
