I have finally found a way to control my stutter - Maybe you can do the same. As some of you know - from my previous post. I attended a McGuire program course in Galway, Ireland. The first day was a Wednesday, on this day we had to sit in front of a camera, in front of a big crowd. While the couch asked us our name, address and phone number. When I went to speak, I was put into a eternal block. One that I couldn't get out of. I couldn't say a word. Going to the course, I was quite skeptical, as I had heard a lot of bad things about it. I really shouldn't have been. On Thursday, we started on techniques, it was about a 13 hour day, the shortest full day. We were up at 9 and finished at 6. Every 50 minutes we would have a break, not including breakfast and lunch. On Friday, I went out into the city with a coach, where he challenged himself to talk to 100 people and make disclosers to various shopkeepers and passer bys. Today, is the most important day for me. The day I found my voice. I picked up the 'weapons' (techniques) very quickly. And today I got to use them to full force. After an early start with a phone call session. Myself and a coach, went back into the city again. But this time it was my turn. I spoke to 100 people along the street, just asking them, regular everyday questions, such as, the time or asking for directions. I also, disclosed about my stutter and introduced myself in shops, to 10 people. Then, in the middle of the busiest street in the city. I stood up, said my name and told my story. **with 100% control and confidence.** Then later on, I made a speech in front of the same crowd that I originally started in. I had 100% control and was very confident. I have actually found a love for public speaking and have been told I even sounded like I was on the course for 3 years, not 3 days. I have come to a conclusion, which is my personal opinion that - If you think your stutter is caused by a combination of Fear/thinking and bad breathing. Or even if you think you don't, some don't even realise it. I would definitely recommend this programme. I'm not cured, I still have a lot of work to do, before I come out of the swamp and start building foundation. The technique is an ongoing poses for the rest of my life. If you have heard the failure stories. 95% of them are either because, their stutter is caused by an articulator or a vocal cord problem (physical) or they just didn't work hard enough. And I'm willing to debate with anyone who says otherwise. Even over a skype session. Please take my advise. It was money well spent for the course. They will even pay by a weekly/monthly basis if needed. So it is affordable. If you still have any doubts, I recommend you order the 'beyond stuttering' manual, as that explains the course and techniques in detail. But it is not a sub situation for the program. As a major part of it, is the final day. Even research the course, and videos of it. You will see the improvements.
