It is somewhat true. I find that with practice it helps a lot. However, it is still difficult for me to read a script (knowing the words I will stutter on) in front of people. In the past, when I had to perform presentations, I rehearsed a script with words that I felt safe to say without any trouble. For the most part it was fine but I did stumble a little bit.
