The search for a companion is all about compatibility. Find someone who doesn't mind your stuttering, someone who will sit there and wait for you to finish your sentence. Believe it or not, they are out there. I am divorced now, but when I was married, she was that person. My speech never ever bothered her, she was always patient with me, never talked over me, never finished my sentences for me, never offered to order for me, she could exist with me to no ill feelings from her. They are out there, kind people, understanding people, people who will see you for what you are behind that mask your stuttering makes you wear. You may have to have a talk or two with them, have an open dialogue about it, but that just adds to the intimacy of the relationship, those feelings you develop when you can talk about those kinds of things. There are so few stutterers out there, to limit your search for someone like that, may be tough.
