I recently secured an internship with my “dream” bank by being completely open about my stutter. I usually perform a lot better during in person interviews aswell however recruiters have their process and don’t usually like to give preferential treatment to anyone. However I found that when you’re completely open from initial contact, the company usually likes to accommodate you to make you feel comfortable so they can test you for your intellect and ability. So what I did was ask if I could instead have a video interview, asking the same questions as the phone interview, and they surprisingly didn’t have any qualms about it! This was the first step of a 6 step process but it felt very nice knowing that a big company would take steps to ensure the candidates applying felt at ease! Good luck with your job hunt!
