Very much an oversimplification. Nothing like adderall but not the opposite per se. They don’t lower dopamine levels, they just block the D2 receptor specifically meaning dopamine cannot bind to it as easily. Dopamine signalling is reduced. Blocking D2 receptors can actually sometimes lead to increased dopamine levels as a compensatory mechanism. Also likly that dopamine more easily binds to other dopamine receptors instead. Very different to how amphetamines work - they do increase dopamine levels and don’t target any receptors.
