I’ve stuttered since I could even speak and I’m currently 26. I work security at a Hospital and have to talk to people a lot on a daily basis. These situations are not always good and it can bring out my stutter a bit more than say something typical I deal with. It really all just depends on the day, sometimes I block on every other word and others I speak fluid sentences for a couple minutes on end. When I’m specifically trying not to stutter, I’ll usually say excuse me or take a verbal pause to restart what I am saying in a slower manner. It helps to smile as well when doing so it seems to make people who don’t stutter understand that you’re a capable person just like them and just have some difficulties with speech. It helps the most to accept your stutter. It’s a part of you so you might as well get accustomed to it. I know it’s hard to take those acceptance steps early on in life but I promise you that you’ll enjoy life more and experience everything that you want to once you do so. I wish you all the best on your adventure my friend.
