Learning to breathe (Switchfoot, anyone?) is key on getting better. A speech therapist I knew told me that, ideally, we should take deep breaths and start speaking only after we start exhaling, not at the same time. It definitely works for me, but it's not natural to do that. It comes with practice. I can try and gather some exercises I got from another therapist if anyone wants me to do that.
