Any other stutterers socially isolated because of their stutter?

Any other stutterers socially isolated because of their stutter? After I left highschool and went to college my group of friends fell apart and I've never been able to replace them. As severe stutterer I find it very hard to make new friends. I don't make contact with people easily and when I do make contact I don't say much. It makes me feel lonely and I want to change that. Anyone here having or had a similar experience and how do you cope or how did you change it around?
