This episode with Biden is one of the biggest drivers for me to gain and maintain fluency. You don't everyone to be dick, you just need one person who doesn't see you as good enough to change the outcome of your life. This happens to women, minorities, disabled, LGBTQ all the time. Even when they may be the most qualified person in the room, some bigoted idiot will take something out of their control and it will cost them a promotion, an award, etc and make it just that much harder for them. Life is hard enough. I can't change my gender, or the color of my skin, but I for damn sure can improve and master control of the way I speak to avoid this. Im at least lucky in this regard.
