Hello, 24F person who stutters here! I've had a stutter my whole life. It has ranged from hardly noticeable, to so severe I isolate myself and don't speak at all. I've never been in big friend groups. I've had some close friends over the years, but I never get as much conversation time to share what I have to say as the other person does. I always end up being an active listener, which is a skill itself. Luckily I'm an introvert. My one goal of 2025 was to go back to speech therapy and I did it! I met an amazing speech therapist who focuses on treating the whole person/body. We have worked on breathing and fluency techniques, but it has been most valuable to learn about the details of my stutter and talk about how it has shaped my identity. There are only so many speech techniques for stuttering. What I have found to be most helpful is deep understanding and radical acceptance.
