I'm past the point of being socially shy about it. I don't have a problem making friends at new places. I do find that I've become very crass and out there, to almost "make up" for people having to listen to me stutter through something. Or maybe it's to avoid making them uncomfortable. I hate it when I make a listener uncomfortable, so maybe I take on a persona of a crass man who would let most anything roll off his shoulders. I'm not sure this bothers me, but I feel like it limits me professionally.
