Yes, or genetics from ancestors that get passed down. It can skip a generation or manifest itself in a generation. Both my parents didn’t stutter, but I have no idea whether my grandparents or great grandparents had any sort of speech impediment. My brother and I are the only ones who stutter in our generation. My sister doesn’t.
