How do people respond when you stutter? Hi everyone, I'm interested to learn more about how people respond when you stutter. I'm asking because I don't know anyone else who stutters and I want to learn about the experiences of others that do. I was bullied and picked on as a young child for stuttering, but it is seldom a problem in my adult life. I recently turned 35 and work as an engineer. I stutter frequently and I'd say my stutter is a moderate one for the most part, although some days are worse than others. I honestly cannot remember when someone laughed, mocked, or otherwise treated me badly for stuttering. The last time was probably some time in high school. People will sometimes talk over me or break off the conversation if I stutter quite badly, but it's pretty rare. What about you? How are you treated when you stutter?
