Overkilling feared words and sounds. This means using the technique on sounds and words that are trouble for you. You do this by doing phone contacts, street contacts etc. Over time of getting used to saying the word, and it becomes boring doing so, your brain begins to notice that you can in fact say the word and therefore you won't have those 'I'm going to stutter' moments. After a period of time you'll have worked on each word and sound you struggle with so much that you won't get those moments at all. Towards the end of the course, firstly you're brought out and shown by coaches how to do street contacts, and then you have the opportunity to do them. This involves stopping people on the street asking them for directions etc using the techniques. Don't get turned away by this, trust me it's an amazing experience and afterward you'll feel as confident as the word defines. After the street contacts you'll be doing a speech on a soapbox is the middle of the town/cites biggest street. This will be very emotional for you and you'll realise that your stutter won't and can't hold you back in life.
