Has anyone else had a bad experience with speech therapy? Speech therapy seems to be the only proven treatment for stuttering but I tried it for about 6 months and frankly I found it useless and embarrassing. To be fair, I didn't put in that much effort. But the techniques the therapist taught me were straight from a worksheet for children, and I was 20. Besides learning those techniques we didn't do anything else. Paying $60 for each 30 minute session where I look at a children's worksheet was frustrating, to say the least. I didn't understand what my parents were paying for. Is my mindset wrong or did I just get a bad therapist?
