Reluctant to have kids due to stutter My fiance and I are engaged and we tying the knot next fall. Naturally, we're talking about sharing our lives together and we both want kids in the future. However, every once in a while, my finance becomes hesitant in having kids solely because her stuttering (which is genetic). My finance has been stuttering her whole life (she told me her stutter was much worse since she was in grad school up until high school). Once in a while she does stutter - her stutter is more noticeable when she speaks her native language Spanish (she's from Puerto Rico) but her stutter is less noticeable when she's speaks English or some Polish (I'm Polish). My fiance is almost afraid of "passing her stutter" to our kids - since my finance has been struggling and insecure with her speech. I've been telling her that if our kid(s) do indeed stutter they would look up to their mom as an inspiration! Folks, has anyone been in a similar situation; nervous that your kids may inherent a stutter - any tips on that? And also how rare or common is it that a child can inherent their parent's stutter?
