"positive thinking." \--> Right before we stutter, we have the thought "I will look for a word or letter to stutter on". This is your stutter expectation. If you focus hard enough on this, observe this thought every time you stutter then this changes from unconscious to conscious. Only when it's conscious you can deal with it (like ignoring, not caring, distraction, positive talking such as affirmations to counter the negative thought and convince yourself that you don't need to expect a stutter to reach fluency). So essentially, you are right it's not about positive talking, ignoring, distraction, not caring etc. This in itself will not remove stuttering. Conclusion: it's about removing your stutter expectation thought "I look for a letter to stutter on", by observing this thought in your mind when you stutter you can give it a 'name' which makes it easier to deal with it. Do you agree?
