It'd be nice if you could share your research results with me. Here's my story. I was, and always have been home-schooled. And no, it wasn't the co-op, Christian social homeschooling; it was hard work all the time with nothing else. The only social contact I had were my family, random people I met one time at the park, and my nextdoor neighbor. I now realized that this nextdoor neighbor was 4 years older than me and just using me to get him some good legos. When I was about 10 I started going to week long summer camps; that was the first time since I started stuttering that I really got to know other people my age, besides my sister. However, none of these friends really ever amounted to anything, and to this day I only have one person out of my family who I would consider my real friend. Additionally, my dad is in the Army, and when I started stuttering (8 years old), it was the first time that he deployed and I really could understand what was happening. I could say more, but I know that if I say too much my mother could still find out, and that wouldn't be good for me. I think that that's enough of a hint as to what kind of childhood I had. Note that I was never physically harmed.
