Am I going insane or does talking really fast at times help my stutter?

Am I going insane or does talking really fast at times help my stutter? I know this sounds stupid and very different from the usual advice that people give about talking really slow if you stutter, but I find that when I slow down too much in a conversation, my stutter doesn’t happen but my blocks get really frequent and I tend to drag on the word for long making it sound unusual or i take pauses for too long while the people around me talk really fast. I noticed that when I just speak fast without overthinking, I tend to speak normally but if I overthink or anticipate the stutter too much, it’ll be hard for me to get out the first word.
