I ran into a guy nearly two years ago who had a profoundly different relationship with his stutter than I do. I'm constantly surfing these threads of words which I know won't trip me up, even though it makes people think I talk a little funny. He just plowed in through, stammering as long as it took for however many words until he got everything out that he wanted to say. For me, it was the most relaxed I'd been talking with someone in a long time. I had all the patience and compassion in the world. I was in no rush. He could take as long as he wanted; I knew exactly what was going on.
