Makes perfect sense. I had to record voice samples of my stutter so I deliberately stayed up late so I was tired, left the TV on, and waited until my dogs were playing loudly before starting, to give the best likelihood of stuttering on the recordings. My stutter is mild so if I had recorded in optimal conditions (quiet, no distractions, well rested) it wouldn't have been heard enough.
