The dreaded telephone Being a life long stutterer, I know first hand the telephone phobia most of us develop over time. Those awkward moments when your blocking on a word and the person thinks the call just dropped: "hello? Hello? Did I lose you?" The lack of visual communication can make telephoning a nightmare. Not being able to read body language means one must articulate their words to be efficient on the telephone. There's no doubt that it can be challenging, but that doesn't mean it cannot be mastered. My question for you is: what do you do to better handle a telephone call? For me, when I know I must make a call, I make it right away. I find this kills the anxiety I would otherwise build while I procrastinate the situation. Also, I like to be in a private and quiet place while I take calls to better relax myself. Ultimately I feel more comfortable if I approach the situation head on and get it over with.
