I was in a very similar situation to you, but didn't realize it before I got there. So you're already ahead of me in that regard. It took me much, much longer than everyone else and I had a frankly quite depressing first year of college, but I did eventually find some good friends and now am going into my senior year happier than ever. Honestly the biggest turning point for my was falling into a smaller, newer fraternity. Fraternities get a bad rep and honestly that's kinda justified, but the one I wound up in is very tight knit and I can genuinely say that all of my brothers are my friends and they are great people. So, while it may not be the best thing to jump into straight away, if you end up struggling look into greek life on your campus. My social skills absolutely flourished as a result of joining my organization. And you don't have to join a stereotypical social greek org, there may be various academic, service, and professional societies as well that can provide you with a sense of comradery. All the other replies have great advice as well. I joined a club for disability advocacy and met some great people there. Classes are an awesome way to meet people as well.
