Well it certainly wasn't easy I can tell you that. And it's a constant, ongoing thing that I have to work at daily. One thing that helped me greatly though was talking to people close to me (friends, my SO, co-workers, family) about all the little nuances about stuttering that most people don't realise (yet). About why you might get anxious in certain situations (the phone is a big one for me). And ask for their understanding. Not help, just understanding. Read blogs of those who stutter, share your experiences with those who are going through the same things you are, you'll come to realise you've so much in common. I also have to remind myself pretty often that this is part of who I am, and that I'm okay with being a person who has a stutter. It's about changing your mindset.
