I mean, you wouldn't want to pretend forever that it wasn't there at all. You'd need to figure out if the kid was okay with it, also (but obviously in a way that makes sense). Otherwise, you might risk them thinking that it's not something that should ever be talked about. This doesn't occur to me to be a good idea.
