I think it got much easier but it's partially because I also opened up a lot and just started talking openly about it. If you show people that you're comfortable with your speech, they'll be comfortable with it too. Adults are much more understanding and empathetic than teenagers. Don't let your stutter limit you. And soon enough it just becomes a characteristic of your speech rather than a disability. I also majored in Communication Sciences & Disorders (aka speech/language therapy) in college and that was huge. Everyone in those classes was obviously understanding and even were interested in what I had to say about living with a stutter. Professors asked me to speak on panels with others who stutter, and I got involved in the National Stuttering Association support group at my university. Stuttering is 90% mental, man.
