My stutter is occasional. Is this frequent? Hello guys, I'm pretty new to this sub, but not to stuttering. I didn't stutter as a kid and I started doing it when I was about 10-11 (now I'm 20). The thing is that I don't stutter all the time, but some times. I don't know how to explain this, I do it maybe once in 3 sentences, but it depends huuugely on my state of mind. For example, when I'm relaxed, at home, I find that i will stutter a lot more than when I think to myself "I must NOT stutter", like when socializing or speaking publicly in general. I will very often get stuck on words and just change the syntax and words of my sentences so that I can continue. What I also do, and this probably causes my stutter, is that I speak quickly, anxiously, like I want to get over with what I'm saying. I can't really control this all the time. If I try to talk slowly and clearly then I won't stutter mainly, but I can't talk slowly to every person I meet, when I do it I feel like I sound unbelievably stupid. Is my situation common? What can I do about this? My social skills are zero, because of this. When I do stutter in front of others I just start panicking in my brain, I get overly self-conscious (I do that anyway) and hate myself. Thanks for your time:)
