I stutter and work as a project manager. Which basically means I am on conferences calls and in meetings all day. I can usually get sentences out, but sometimes I stutter. I've learned to stop myself from speaking, take a breathe, say excuse me and keep going. I usually let people know that I have a stutter at the beginning and to please excuse me if I stutter. I've never had a person dismiss me or laugh (at least not to my knowledge, mute is always possible). If you do good work, people won't care. There are always trigger words that I know I will stutter on. I try to steer around those words or sounds, but sometimes I need to say something and I will push through. If I stutter, I stutter. It still does bother me that I stutter and sometimes I feel people make fun of me, but I can't control what other will say or do. If people don't make fun of the way I speak, they will make fun of something else. IMO, you just need think about what you want to do in life and go after it. There will always be obstacles in front of you that make you want to stop, but you can do whatever you want.
