Fear of stuttering (or another negative emotion) is at work here. Fear "predicts" the future and tells your brain that you are going to stutter in these situations. When this happens, it is very difficult to be mindful and have control of yourself because you are in a heightened state. I am under the belief that speech therapy will have little impact until the negative emotions towards stuttering are addressed.
