The only reason for therapy is to help you feel more comfortable with your day to day life. To be happy! You're an adult, and you're lucky enough to be able to ask for help when you need it, and more importantly, when you want it. There is still a lot of on-going research for stuttering and other related issues, but the one thing I can assure you is you do not have to be afraid of therapy. These people, above any one else, understand that you are in no way an 'idiot'. Speech therapy is a modest, confidential tool for helping you succeed at the things YOU want to do. It is nothing to be embarrassed of. It will take up less of your time than you think, and it can teach you how to deal with your day to day anxiety without the help of any therapist. I can only imagine how difficult your situation is, and I hope you find your way. Never fear, Reddit is the temple of rants and feedback :)
