Something small that has helps me lots So I have a stammer, sometimes it's non existent but other times it's so bad I really can't get the words out at all. Like many people, I used to think that imagining stammering in future scenarios was at the heart of the problem and that any obsessive thinking was at the heart of the problem. But those thoughts aren't the problem; it's the anxiety that those thoughts cause. A simple thing I do is that whenever I imagine myself stammering in a situation, I simply say out loud 'It's ok to have these thoughts'. Or if I'm in a public space I say and visualise the words in my head. Whilst you may not believe they are ok if you repeat this then your subconscious brain will think that these thoughts are in fact fine and anxiety will lessen. This has helped me massively and I hope it can help you guys too.
