I guess stuttering may be different for everybody. I have more of a speech block than a stutter. I dont “M-m-my name is P-P-P-Pete”. Mine looks like “Mmm- (lose eye contact, start moving hand) -my name is Pete, how are you?” then go on without a problem for a couple of sentences, until once again i find myself stuck somewhere. You can say i dont have a severe stutter, i can flow smoothly at times, but i dont think that makes my problems less important. I still feel ashamed, still wish i had 100% fluency, as a communications major i would love to be able to speak in front of a camera and showcase my charisma but even with a little stammer, my confidence is low most of the time. I personally never say “oh i stutter too” to another stutterer. But i dont think those comments come in bad faith.
