Speaking in a different accent helps my speech?

Speaking in a different accent helps my speech? Hi, I have no idea if this is the right sub for this, if it's not please tell me where! I'm so perplexed by this... So for a while now I've have problems with speech production, I stutter a lot, confuse words, have to talk long breaks when talking, muddle and mispronounce words and I'm really insecure about it. My natural accent is British but I've found that talking in an American accent (or what I deem to be close to one, it's probably not perfect haha) really helps my speech. It's becomes more coherent and fluent, my stutter lessens significantly and I'm just a lot more confident. Why is this? Talking in a different accent is obviously a really weird thing to do so I can't really keep it up, but is there any reason why this happens so I can try a different technique?
