Stutter podcasts im listening to right now I recently started looking into stutter podcasts, never knew they existed till now! Ive never been a podcast person but i came across one called 'Stuttertalk", the host is a person with a stutter and pretty much all the guests are people with a stutter. Made me realise that ive never really heard other people stutter before? And ive never related so much to some of the things they were talking about. I thought i was alone in all these thoughts and feelings i had towards myself and my stutter so i was genuinely shocked. If youre in the same boat, be aware that some of these podcasts can be a tear jerker! There was a really great one i listened to, the first podcast of theirs i litened to actually, which was episode 726 "destigamtizing stuttering on the hit tv show The Penguin". Ive never seen the show and had no idea that there was a character who stutters on the show, or that the person who plays the stuttering character was coached by someone with a stutter to really get an authentic depiction and emotion of it. One of the interesting methods practiced was for the actor to make cold calls to places, essentially just calling up hotels or places to eat and talking to the person on the other end and stutter the entire time, such as prolonging words, repeating and blocking etc. The speech coach would hold their hand up in front of the actor while they were on the phone, and this indicated for the actor to continue to stutter/block until the hand was removed. Honestly, if you havent looked into to Stuttertalk i hightly suggest it, maybe check out this episode as youre intorduction as it was mine? There were so many great things said and so many great points made i was really kind of blown away. Anyone else listen to stuttertalk? Any great episodes you suggest or anything said in them that really resonated with you? Other podcast recommendations would be great too!
