Yes I will explain it. People who stutter - during the stuttering development - have built a mentality to justify (based on conditions): **Freezing speech muscles** And **Not moving speech muscles** Some PWS 'freeze or not move speech muscles' because of fear, while other PWS still stutter a lot without fear. In the same way PWS have conditions to not move speech muscles in situations whereby they don't experience fear. The first minutes that we start the breathing therapy, we learn the ribcage technique and we don't stutter with it immediately. But the first minutes we didn't learn to reduce fear or to reduce conditions that justify 'not moving speech muscles'. Why then do we not stutter when using the ribcage technique? My opinion: likely because we distract ourselves by focusing on breathing which doesn't lead to disruptions. During speech therapy we learn to reduce 'fear', but we still maintain the conditions that justify 'not moving speech muscles'. Question: Do you agree?
