Aside from more fluent speaking I learned to be more open about my stutter from the clinic. Before I would do anything to hide it. From the clinic I gained an appreciation for being more open about it. Now in a tough situation, like a job interview, I come right out and mention it at the beginning. I still used the stopwatch they gave me to do drills on most weekdays. I use the recording device to listen back to my speech about .5 times a week. I hadn't had any official speech therapy prior to the UofU clinic, but I feel like the best thing I did for my stutter was join the Army as an interrogator. During the training to be an interrogator and working as one I developed a lot of skills and confidence on my own. I think the 80 hours/2weeks format of the UofU clinic is essential. The core of the course is getting you to change your speaking habits, something that can't be done with just a few hours over a few days.
