Developmental stuttering is stuttering that first emerges in childhood, most often before the age of 6 years, however, has ranged to 12 or so. 34 is atypically late for developmental stuttering. If you're seeing a change in your behavior that is concerning you should consult your primary physician. I don't know whether your physician will recommend a neurological consult or not--it really all depends on the severity of your new condition and (sadly) your ability to pay (if you're in the US, anyway). Changes in speech are among the first to appear in several neurodegenerative disorders. Get me right--IN NO WAY am I saying you have a neurodegenerative disease, I'm merely saying you're not exhibiting developmental stuttering. If it's frequent and bothersome you should consult your physician.
