I glanced at your user profile and did a quick google: there could be a link between Bell’s palsy causing speech related issues including stuttering. For stutterers we have a certain stress threshold that will trigger our stutter. For some that’s really low, for some it’s really high. A lot of us that work to overcome our stutter do so by raising our stress threshold that triggers the stutter by exposure to that threshold and overtime we become more comfortable with things like public speaking, answering the phone, etc. It sounds like you had a very quick succession and escalation of stress in this situation with the bartender. A stutter could, perhaps, have been underlying since the onset of Bell’s palsy. I’d talk to you doctor about the situation. Best to you
